It’s Mary Kay’s 50th anniversary on September 13th, 2013 – and the company says it has seen its highest worldwide sales in its history, the day following its “Global Makeover Day.” At the global event, which took place in 24 markets simultaneously, Mary’s Kay’s international makeup artist team performed nearly 50,000 makeovers. In addition, Mary Kay’s “One Woman Can Makeover Contest” has received over 175,000 entries from 30 countries. The contest is still open for online voting through May 28. Entrants can share their makeover and ask friends and family to vote for them. The women with the top 250 votes become finalists, from which 50 winners in the U.S. will be selected to receive a $5,000 grant to a charity of their choice. One grand prize winner from the U.S. will also receive a $5,000 international vacation to a destination of their choice. Winners will be announced later this summer. “March was a record sales month for Mary Kay, but know that our company is in a great position to have record breaking months several times throughout the year,” said David Holl, president/CEO, Mary Kay Inc. Holl continues, “We are celebrating our 50th anniversary, and our company has never been stronger. Our international markets account for more than 70 percent of our revenue, while the Mary Kay opportunity in the U.S. continues to appeal to women from a wide variety of backgrounds from Gen-Y to Baby Boomers.”
